We wrote this in plain English (and a little Hindi) because legalese hides things and we’d rather not. Read the part you care about, skim the rest. If something here makes you uncomfortable, write back — we mean it.

Section 01

01.Accepting these terms

By creating a Likhit account or uploading an answer, you agree to these terms. They form a binding contract between you (“the candidate”) and Likhit (“Likhit”, “we”, “us”) — currently operated as a sole proprietorship by Chirag Garg, with private-limited incorporation underway. We’ll update this clause when the registration is complete.

If you don’t agree with something here, don’t use the service — and please tell us why so we can do better.

Section 02

02.What Likhit is

Likhit is a software service that:

  • Reads photographs of your handwritten UPSC Mains answers using OCR.
  • Grades the transcript against a published rubric (Intro · Content · Structure · Conclusion).
  • Returns an annotated report with margin notes, a score, and a rewrite suggestion.

Likhit is not a coaching institute, a UPSC-affiliated examiner, or a guarantee of marks. The score is an AI estimate based on the Mains rubric. Treat it as practice feedback, not a final verdict.

Section 03

03.Your account

  • You must be 18 or older, or using this service with verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian, to create an account.
  • One account per person. Sharing your login with a study group is fine for a single device session, but not okay if it routinely runs the free quota up across multiple aspirants.
  • Keep your password to yourself. You’re responsible for activity under your account; we can’t tell a borrowed login from a real one.
Section 04

04.Acceptable use

Don’t:

  • Upload anyone else’s handwritten answers without their permission.
  • Submit content that’s illegal, hateful, or infringes someone else’s copyright.
  • Try to scrape, reverse-engineer, or jailbreak the grading model.
  • Resell access to your account or to the API.
  • Use Likhit to evaluate sample answers during a real UPSC exam. (We wish you didn’t have to be told this. We do.)
Section 05

05.Service status & SLAs

Likhit is a live service. That means:

  • The service may break occasionally. We aim for 99% uptime in any given month, but we don’t credit you for downtime — yet.
  • Features may change, move, or disappear with notice in the changelog.
  • OCR accuracy is rising weekly but isn’t perfect. Re-shoot, re-upload — your free attempt isn’t counted on a failed read.
Evaluation queue ~30–90s typical

During beta, evaluations typically complete in 30–90 seconds under normal load. Peak hours (8 PM IST onwards on Sundays) may be slower.

Section 06

06.Beta access & future billing

Likhit is currently available as a free beta with 5 evaluations per week. No credit card is required to use the free beta.

Paid plans may be introduced later. If and when paid plans launch, we will clearly show the price, billing cycle, refund policy, and cancellation terms before asking for payment.

Until paid plans are publicly enabled, references to billing, subscriptions, auto-renewal, Razorpay payments, or refunds do not apply to free beta users.

Section 07

07.Who owns what

  • Your answers are yours. Always. You grant us a limited licence to process them solely to produce your report and (if you opted in) to improve the model.
  • Your reports belong to you too — print them, share them, post them on Telegram. Attribution to Likhit is appreciated but not required.
  • The grading model, the rubric, the UI, the brand are ours. Don’t copy them wholesale.
Section 08

08.Disclaimers

Likhit is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that:

  • The score we return will match official UPSC marks or a real examiner’s score — these are AI-generated practice scores only.
  • The service will be available 24×7 without interruption.
  • The OCR will read every Devanagari ligature perfectly. (We’re getting closer every week.)

You use Likhit to practice. The actual exam result depends on your preparation, the day, and a hundred things outside our reach.

Section 09

09.Limits of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Likhit is capped at the greater of (a) the fees you paid us in the prior 12 months, or (b) ₹2,000.

We aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses — like a missed cut-off, a lost study day, or distress caused by a low score. (We will, however, listen.)

Section 10

10.Suspension & termination

You can close your account anytime — Settings → Account → Delete. We’ll wipe everything within 30 days.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate the acceptable-use rules above, attempt to circumvent quotas, or charge back a payment without contacting us first. We’ll always email you the reason.

Section 11

11.Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will go to the courts at Delhi — though we’d both rather settle it over email first.

A small request from Likhit

If you ever feel something here is unfair or unclear, just write to us. We read every mail. We’d rather change a clause than lose your trust.
